 A POWERHOUSE OF WOMEN LEADERS FIGHTS CRIMES ON ENVIRONMENT

The Philippine Judicial Academy (PHILJA), and the Office of the Court Administrator (OCA), in partnership with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and American Bar Association-Rule of Law Initiative (ABA-ROLI), recently conducted a Seminar-Workshop on the Rule of Procedure for Small Claims Cases on September 29, 2008, at the Manila Pavilion Hotel, U.N. Avenue, Manila.

The Philippine Judicial Academy (PHILJA), and the Philippine Mediation Center Office, conducted a Pre-Settlement Period Orientation with Judges, Clerks of Court, Branch Clerks of Court and Mediators of Manila, Zamboanga, Cagayan. Rizal, Camarines Sur, Bulacan, Benguet, La Union, Pampanga, Davao, South Cotabato, Misamis Oriental, Leyte, Cebu, Bacolod, Batangas for the month of September.

The Philippine Judicial Academy (PHILJA), in partnership with the Italian Embassy in Manila, recently conducted an International Conference on the International Criminal Court (ICC) on September 25-26, 2008 at the Renaissance Makati City Hotel, Makati City.




Judges: Violation of Canon 3, Sec. 2 and Canon 4, Sec. 1 of the New Code of Judicial Conduct for the Judiciary

            Section 2 of Canon 3 of the New Code of Judicial Conduct for the Judiciary provides that Judges shall ensure that his or her conduct, both in and out of court, maintains and enhances the confidence of the public, the legal profession and litigants in the impartiality of the judge and of the judiciary, and Section 1 of Canon 4 provides that propriety and the appearance of propriety are essential to the performance of all the activities of a judge.
