The Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) was established in February 1997 under the framework of the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) process. ASEF seeks to promote mutual understanding, deeper engagement and continuing collaboration among the people of Asia and Europe through greater intellectual, cultural, and people-to-people exchanges between the two regions. |

7th ASEM Summit in Beijing, ChinaThe 7th ASEM Summit was held in Beijing, China, from 24-25 October 2008. The summit was the first gathering of leaders of 45 ASEM partners since its second round of enlargement in 2006. To support this important meeting, ASEF has organised five flagship projects: - Model ASEM
- Dialogue on Art and Climate Change
- 3rd Connecting Civil Societies of Asia and Europe
- European Studies in Asia (ESIA): Book Launch and Panel
- 4th Asia-Europe Editors' Roundtable
These projects were a demonstration of ASEF’s central role in complementing the ASEM process and covered key areas of interest to the ASEM process.
